Effect of Claims on Project performance
Abstract
A claim is a written demand or statement by either of the contractual parties for reimbursement, modification, clarification of contract requirements, or other relief arising out of or pertaining to a specific contract. Claims are one of the most unpleasant and unwelcome aspects of any project. Given these circumstances, it is unsurprising that the number of claims in the construction industry continues to climb. As a result, knowing the effect of causation and the different sorts of claims might help to prevent them. Hence, the purpose of this article is to quantify the impact of causes and types of claims on project performance in terms of cost, quality, and time. A questionnaire survey was carried out using Google Forms, and questionnaire sets were distributed by hand to Pakistani construction industry practitioners. The statistical package software for social science (SPSS) version 20 was used to analyse the collected 51 responses from the survey. Two frameworks are also presented for the managing different types of claims & controlling different causes of claims. Suggestions & recommendations are also presented to manage & control claims.
